8 Awesome Food Allergy Bloggers and Their Favorite Recipes

I thought I'd kick-off Food Allergy Awareness week with a little FUN. I don't know about you, but I'm sometimes overwhelmed with all of the recipes I'd like to make. There are SO many healthy and tasty recipes online - hello PINTEREST!

I'm constantly trying to cook new foods for Little Guy since he has food allergies to dairy, egg, peanuts, tree nuts and sesame. But as a full time working mama, I just don't have time to seek out and test all the best recipes that are safe for him to eat.

That's why I wanted to ring in Food Allergy Awareness week with a round-up of recipes from some of my favorite food allergy bloggers.

I asked these amazingly awesome bloggers to choose one of their favorite food allergy friendly recipes with me, just so I could share them with YOU.

Each of the 8 bloggers wrote a little bit about her recipe. I organized the recipes by meal course so you can EAT your way through this post. Just click on each link for the recipe!

I hope you try each one. I know I will!

Black Bean Salsa
from Carrie Curry at Chockababy
This is one of my favorite recipes - and the one most requested from friends! It's free of the top 8 allergens and so delicious - you wouldn't even notice! I make it for parties, picnics, and all summer long as a safe family snack. I hope you enjoy!

Dairy-Free Goldfish Crackers
from Rachel Hayden at Mom Versus Food Allergy
These Dairy-Free Goldfish Crackers have been a hit with both of my kids.  It's not only dairy-free, but a healthier version of the original processed version.  I like to make them when we go on a trip for a special treat while traveling, but they're good anytime!

Allergy-Safe Broccoli Cream Soup
from Jenny Sprague at Multiple Food Allergy Help
My son, Jacob, ate two bowls of this wonderful dairy free allergy safe Cream of Broccoli Soup the first time I made it. It's perfect for a cold rainy day, or any time of year when you crave creamy and healthy allergy-friendly soup!

Simple Marinara Sauce
from Homa Woodrum at Oh Ma Deeness!
I make this large batch of marinara sauce regularly and freeze it flat in ziploc bags.  Dinner is easy when you can make some pasta (gluten free or regular) or just spaghetti squash or roasted vegetables and serve it with a vibrant tomato sauce.  It is also affordable, unlike a lot of food allergy friendly options!

Nut Free Nutella
from Mikhaela Reid at Safe & Scrumptious from Scratch
Nutella - packed with milk and hazelnuts, eeek! - is a no-go for nut and dairy allergies. so we mix up our own chocolatey spread with some sunflower seed butter, neutral-tasting beans, unsweetened cocoa powder and maple syrup. It's very simple, but always a big winner!

Vegan Banana Muffins
from Caroline Moassessi at Grateful Foodie
I first baked this simple egg free, dairy free, peanut free, tree nut free and sesame seed free muffin for my son based on his allergies. Even though he has outgrown his egg allergy and can consume baked dairy, this muffin is a favorite since it takes on many looks and lives!  It is a one bowl wonder and after 13 years of baking it, friends still ask for it!?!

I use this recipe as my basic recipe and then I jazz it up to match the occasion. For example, this muffin morphs into:
  • Raspberry jam filled muffins when I want to serve it with tea on a little china plate
  • Heart shaped treats for special celebrations
  • Chocolate vegan ganache topped delights when we need more chocolate
  • Mini chocolate chip studded chocolate banana dessert
  • Banana split cupcakes (PICTURED BELOW!) when topped with vegan whipped frosting, drizzled with melted Enjoy Life Chocolate and topped with sprinkles, a cherry, and banana slices
