I'd LIKE to say I wouldn't eat at fast food restaurants even IF Little Guy didn't have food allergies. BUT wouldn't it be nice just to have the option?
Well, we found our fast food option that seems even better than the typical fast food joint, and it offers allergy-friendly food!
We made our first trip to Elevation Burger a few weeks ago to try it out. I heard it was an allergy-friendly place to eat, so I stopped in one night when I was in the area shopping by myself and I spoke with the manager. He assured me Little Guy could have a plain burger and fries that contain no dairy, egg, wheat, nuts or sesame.
So, the four of us had a fun family outing and got there when it opened at 11am. Only one other person was eating at the restaurant when we walked in, so I was happy it wasn't busy yet.
I spoke with the cashier, showed him our chef card, and he asked the manager to come over (a different person this time). He assured us again they could cook Little Guy's burger on a clean grill, and the french fries were only made with olive oil. NICE!
We had quite a fast food feast.
Just take a look at these beautiful fast food fries.
They're not McDonald's, Burger King or Wendy's, but they taste just like fast food fries. And you know what they're made of? Potatoes and olive oil. Score.
Any guess as to what's in McDonald's french fries? Here's a hint, they're not especially allergy friendly:
McDonald's French Fries:
Ingredients: Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (Canola Oil, Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Natural Beef Flavor [Wheat and Milk Derivatives]*, Citric Acid
[Preservative]), Dextrose, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate (Maintain Color), Salt. Prepared in Vegetable Oil (Canola Oil, Corn Oil, Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Soybean
Oil with TBHQ and Citric Acid added to preserve freshness), Dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent.
*Natural beef flavor contains hydrolyzed wheat and hydrolyzed milk as starting ingredients.

Elevation Burger even made sure to bring our burgers out on a separate tray. Little Guy's allergy-friendly burger came on the tray with the fries.
The husband had a beef burger, and I ordered a veggie burger since it was 11am - not a beefy time for me! |
Little Gal enjoyed her avocado I brought from home! |
Ever tried Elevation Burger? OR, what's your go-to fast food (and maybe allergy-friendly) restaurant?
I was not paid to review Elevation Burger. We actually went there on our own and had a great meal.
I'm so happy that you could all do that together! It's so nice to have that option. Good seeing little guy and lttle gal too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane! Yes, it's definitely a great fast food option!
DeleteKathryn, I am so happy you found a safe place that the whole family can eat. It looks soooo much better than the standard fast food fare too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Colette! Yes, so much better than standard fast food - especially when you know the ingredients!
